Your weekly recipe x3!

Have you been enjoying the warmer weather as much as we have here at Heroic Health headquarters?  Our Bike4Health program is up and running (check out http://www.heroic-health.com/we-invite-you-to-join-us-for-bike4health-our-summer-biking-program/for more info), the gardens are planted and ready for summer, we have been out walking in the evenings, and being able to have the windows wide open all the time feels amazing.  What have you been up to?

So in light of all this summery weather going on outside, we figured that the best recipe for this week should be cool, satisfying and healthy.  What better option for that than smoothies?  So here are three great and super yummy smoothie recipes for you to try out this season:

The Perfect Ayurvedic Smoothie:

  • 2 cups kale
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 banana
  • 1” by 3” strip of nori, torn into small pieces
  • 1/8 tsp. ginger
  • ½ cup pomegranate juice
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tsp. flax seeds

1)    Blend the flax seeds into a powder

2)    Add the rest of the ingredients to your blender and enjoy!

 

Raw Mint Chip Superfood Green Smoothie:

  • 2 cups frozen spinach
  • 2 cups frozen bananas
  • ¼ cup raw unsalted cashews
  • 3 tbsp. cacao nibs
  • 2 tbsp. (packed) fresh mint leaves, minced
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 cups rice milk (original variety)
  • ½ cup coconut water
  • Sweetener, to taste (optional)
  • ¼ tsp. chlorella (optional for a superfood boost)

1)    Blend all the ingredients together (I use a Vitamix) until smooth

2)    Taste, and sweeten as desired

 

Chai Like You Green Smoothie:

  • 2 cups spinach
  • 2 cups almond milk
  • ½ inch piece of ginger
  • 2 pears
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tsp. cardamom
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • Ice, as needed

1)    Place all ingredients in a blender

2)    Pulse on medium to high until all ingredients are blended evenly
