These Healthy Protein Balls make a great post-workout snack

When we came across this recipe originally, we all got pretty excited about the fact that it contains a whole lot of our favourite healthy ingredients… walnuts, cinnamon, vanilla, dates, coconut and more all come together to create a snack that will give you that burst of protein that your body needs after a hard workout. They also taste amazing, but try not to eat too many at once… these are a pretty hefty snack and you would need to burn off any excess protein if yo do not want it to stick on your body in the form of fat.

 

Healthy Chocolate Protein Balls:

  • 500g walnuts
  • 2 heaping tbsp. cacao or cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp. cinnamon powder
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • 20 pitted fresh dates
  • 1 orange (zest and juice)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract or ½ tsp of paste
  • 3 tbsp. Healthy Chef Protein (organic chocolate + maca or chocolate WPI)
  • 2 cups coconut, flaked for rolling
  1. Combine walnuts, cocoa powder, linseed cinnamon and salt. 
Process until ground, but not too fine
  2. Add dates, orange zest and vanilla.
Process again. Test and see if the cake starts to come together when pressed, if not, add the juice of half to one orange then process again
  3. Make into balls and roll in your choice of coconut, goji berry, or cacao
